Yea, I see that is not soldered. Now just have to figure out the deal on SATA ports.

I don't think the sata 2/3 thing is a big deal unless you are going to put SSDs in it. A regular hard drive can't max out sata 2.

The big advantage of this server: it supports ECC memory. Eliminates one potential cause of bit rot!
HW: HP ProLiant MicroServer Gen8 (just ordered with Celeron G1610T, 2GB ECC, 4x4TB WD Red)
OS: waiting for OMV 0.6 (Wheezy) with kernel 3.x, better HW-support and BTRFS

Yeah, it's 22 nano. A lot of the others mentioned in that link are older lithograpy. I want the extra cores in case I want to run a few vms.

I wish there was a case like this for a mini ITX mobo.

tekkbebe wrote:In this new one 2 ports SATA II and 2 ports SATA III. WTH! Why?

The build in Intel Chipset (Intel-C204) does support 6 SATA ports, but only two of them (port0/1) support SATAIII (6.0Gb/s).
For HDD does SATA II fit well.

ryecoaaron wrote:The 3.2 backports kernel may have a driver for it. Just install minimal debian squeeze from this image and then install OMV.

Code: Select all
1 - echo "deb http://packages.openmediavault.org/public fedaykin main" > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/openmediavault.list
2 - apt-get update
3 - apt-get install openmediavault-keyring postfix
4 - apt-get update
5 - apt-get install openmediavault
6 - omv-initsystem

I tried this on the Gen 8 G1610T , it install the debian, but when I try to install the OMV , it shows packages/files that OMV needs, but the system cannot install them. And I can install OMV
What did I do wrong?
I created a partition for swap and another in XFS for the linux, and I took kernel 3.2 instead the 2.0.

Thanks
